Obituary

Gilbert Medeiros Albino, 88, of Fairhaven, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Alden Court in Fairhaven. He was the husband of the late Anna (Medeiros) Albino. Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Joseph and Francelina (Costa) Albino, he had resided in Fairhaven for most of his life. He was a graduate of Fairhaven High School. Mr. Albino worked as a custodian for the Fairhaven School system for 20 years and previously worked at Aerovox for 25 years. As a child, Mr. Albino contracted T.B. in his spine and spent 9 years in Solemar Hospital in South Dartmouth and survived the disease. He considered those years to be happy ones...
Gilbert Medeiros Albino, 88, of Fairhaven, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Alden Court in Fairhaven. He was the husband of the late Anna (Medeiros) Albino.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Joseph and Francelina (Costa) Albino, he had resided in Fairhaven for most of his life. He was a graduate of Fairhaven High School.

Mr. Albino worked as a custodian for the Fairhaven School system for 20 years and previously worked at Aerovox for 25 years.

As a child, Mr. Albino contracted T.B. in his spine and spent 9 years in Solemar Hospital in South Dartmouth and survived the disease. He considered those years to be happy ones because of the wonderful people that he encountered.

He loved listening to music, especially guitar music and cherished the time shared with his loving family.

Survivors include three daughters, Kathryn Carter and her husband Robert of Lakeville, Debra Waugh and her husband Jeffrey of Darlington, MD and Deanna Farabini of Somerset; four grandchildren, Sara Costa and her husband Joshua, Benjamin Farabini, Brandon and Corey Waugh; one great-grandchild, Carter Costa; and several nieces and nephews. He was the father-in-law of the late Louis S. Farabini, Jr. and brother of the late Mary Couto.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 9am from the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Fairlawn, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven followed by a funeral mass at 10am in St. Mary's Church, Main St., Fairhaven.
