Gina Hogan was born on June 3, 1938. She grew up and attended school in the Lynn, Massachusetts area. In 1971, she met her husband-to-be, John Hogan, in Newport, Rhode Island. John, who was in the U.S. Navy, had just came back from Vietnam. Gina and John were married in Newport in 1972. After they were married they lived in the Newport, Rhode Island area for a few years.
The following several years they lived in many different places, where- ever the Navy stationed John. San Diego was the last place they were living when he retired from the military in 1989. They made San Diego their home ever since.
Gina easily made friends wherever they lived. She was a very out-going person, so friendly with everyone. She was always smiling and happy. When one met Gina she was liked immediately. She filled the room with her exuberance and fun-filled spirit. She was known for her beautiful singing voice and loved to sing.
Another of Gina's wonderful qualities also was her generosity. She would help anyone. She always wanted to contribute to all the mail requests that were sent from the various charities and many times mailed them a check. She provided food to anyone who looked like they were hungry or not – even some of the people she did not know who perhaps were just walking by our home. She loved doing things for the neighbors and for all of her friends.
Gina will be lovingly remembered by everyone for everything mentioned, and for other qualities not mentioned in this brief life story. We could go on and on.
Thank you for all that you did for her. Gina will always be in our hearts.
