IRMO - Memorial service for Glaidelle Dempsey Hamlet, 83, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hamlet passed away Monday, May 15, 2017. Born in Anderson County SC, she was a daughter of the late G. Frank Dempsey and Ruth Porter Dempsey. She was the wife of the late Tedd Hamlet. Mrs. Hamlet was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and the School of Law at USC. She was employed as an attorney with Coca-Cola Company in Atlanta, Ga., as well as Standard Oil (Chevron) and Levi Straus and Company, both in San Francisco. Mrs. Hamlet also served as General Council for Pan-Pacific Alliance for Trade and Development throughout the Pacific Island countries.
Surviving are her daughters, Monica Jayne Hamlet and Melinda Joyce Moore; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Joyce Meeks, Barbara Dempsey, Donna Petras; and brother, G. Frank Dempsey, Jr. She was preceded in death by a son, Maurice Ted Hamlet and brother, A.C. Dempsey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shepherd Center, 2600 Ashland Rd, Columbia, SC 29210.
