Obituary

Glenn Herman Rider, 79, born in Ontario, California on September 26, 1934, after a long fight against cancer, gave up his weary battle and returned to his Heavenly Father on February 27, 2014. Glenn had been married to his loving wife, Deanna, for over 58 years. They had reared two sons, and one daughter. Glenn was very active in the battle to retain the freedoms given us by our Constitution. He truly believed it was the responsibility of each citizen to work together in this battle to protect our nation for our future posterity.

In addition to his sons, Terry and Todd, both of Hanford, and his daughter, Donna Rider Braun and her husband Craig of DeVore, he is survived by five grandsons; Aaron Rider of Oregon, Randy Rider active duty in the U.S. Army, Robert Frago of Hanford, Andrew Smith of Hanford and David Rider of California, five granddaughters; Megan Braun Swindel and her husband Joe of San Diego, Kristen Braun of DeVore, Katharine Braun of DeVore, Erin Braun of DeVore and Amanda Frago of Hanford. Two great- grandsons; Jeffrey and Weslee Frago and a great-granddaughter; Brielle Frago all of Hanford, were a great delight in these last years. He is also survived a sister; Marleah Boesch and her husband Jack of Porterville and by two aunts; Orpha Rider of Lindsay, California and Nellie Page of Reedley, California; and many cousins, nieces and nephews also survive him.

Glenn had the opportunity to be happy to go to work every day, doing what he loved to do. From a young age, he had loved cars, rebuilding them as well as racing them. He felt that he was a wealthy man because he was happy. For over fifty years he owned the Foreign Automotive of Hanford working on all foreign cars, and then from 1978 to 2003 working on Mercedes. His customers became his friends because they knew he was a man of his word and very honest in his dealings with his fellow man.

Glennwanted his children to grow up to be the same, to gain the respect of themselves and others. As all of us make some mistakes, he was very pleased with the way his children and grandchildren turned out.

Glenn was a member of the Central Valley Tea Party; a co-coordinator of the Kings County Chapter of the Tea Party and a member of the Republican Central Committee for several years. He attended the Board of Supervisors meetings and the Hanford City Council regularly seeing the need to let the supervisors and the councilmen know what their constituents were thinking. His letters to the editor were watched for by many Hanfordites. His partner in the effort to keep our freedoms intact was Glenda Dwyer, of whom he came to think of as another daughter and great friend.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Hanford.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints; 2400 N. 11th Avenue, Hanford, CA 93230 with Burial to follow at Grangeville Cemetery; 10428 14th Avenue, Armona, CA 93202.
