Gloria Bledsoe Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 12, 2017.

Gloria A. Bledsoe, age 89, went to be with the Lord on May 11, 2017 in San Antonio, TX. She was born in Electra, TX on September 30, 1927 to John Swenson & Lela Alma Pearce Swenson. She loved God and the church all her life. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and Alter Society. Gloria developed many creative skills, including making her own clothes, writing, making jewelry, hand bags & stuffed dolls. She enjoyed sewing for many years and after retiring, she started an arts & crafts business called "Classy Casuals". She did craft shows for many years making many friends along the way. She came to be known as "The Bluebonnet Lady", because she developed a unique bluebonnet design that she painted on everything. She had lots of help from her husband Cooper.

She was an avid book reader and crossword puzzle solver, who collected stamps. She enjoyed the Swing Band music of the 1940's

In past years, Gloria enjoyed spending time with family and her many friends. She has a lot of friends, from before high school, high school at Jefferson High, working at Western Union, and 2 bunco clubs. She enjoyed keeping in touch with friends because it filled her life with happiness. She loved any gathering or party and her familiar laugh was joyous and infectious.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lawrence Swenson & Harold Swenson; and grandson, Patrick Michael Bledsoe.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Cooper Bledsoe; son, Paul Bledsoe (Linda) of Baton Rouge, LA; daughter, Marilyn Remmey (Warren); grandchildren, Amber Remmey, Krystal Geistweidt (Mark) of Doss, TX, Stuart Bledsoe (Addie) of Gonzalez, LA; great-grandchildren, Leah Geistweidt, Elizabeth Bledsoe, Abbey Geistweidt; and soon to come great grandson, Everett Bledsoe.

i loved my Aunt Gloria more than words can say. She was always there when I needed to talk to someone. She was my 2nd Mom, and I'm going to miss her so much. At least I know she isn't suffering any more, and she is at peace. To all family I wish I could be there, but know I am saying lots of prayers for all of you and especially for this great lady. Love to all and God Bless,
