She graduated from East High School where she was active in A cappella and student council groups. She attended the U of U, was an avid skier, and obtained her pilots license. At the U of U she met Patrick H Fenton, student-body president of the Law School. They were married in Salt Lake City on May 15, 1948. The couple moved to Cedar City where Patrick started his law practice and the couple had three children.
Gloria annually hosted the Governor's Tea for the Shakespearean Festival Opening Night, president of Bloomington Ladies Club, and president of Lady Elks Lodge. She was a member of the Knife and Fork Club, and the SUU Faculty Wives, and volunteered for many years for the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce. She was also a member of the Alta Club. She was an avid reader, loved to travel the world, and play bridge.
Gloria was a granddaughter of 1847 Pioneer, Archibald Gardner. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Patrick H Fenton, her parents, her brother, Wilford Butler Gardner and sister, Tess Gardner Sorensen, both of Salt Lake City. She is survived by daughters, Tess (Lewis) Rawlinson, Delta, Ann (Larry) Banks, Spanish Fork, and son, Patrick Robert Fenton, Chelem, Yucatan, Mexico. She is survived by nine grandchildren that loved and adored her. Gloria was blessed with 24 great grandchildren, soon to be 25. Gloria loved her family and friends, and did all she could to make their lives better. She was a great example to us and always a lady. The family wishes to express a sincere thanks to Gloria's dear friends and to Iron County Home Health Company in Cedar City for the excellent care extended to both parents over the years.
