Gordon Jacob Briley went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, December
15, 2010. Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 18th at 11:00am in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Highway 431 N, Phenix City, AL. with the Reverends Joe Strickland and Barry Danner officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Memory Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Briley, Jonathan Briley, Nick Smith, Eddie Carr, Morris Thornton and Boyd Cochran. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5pm until 7pm at the funeral home.
Gordon was born May 8, 1934 in Telfair County, GA., son of the late Benjamin and Martha Selph Briley. He was a member of the First Assembly of God in Phenix City and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Gordon was a
mechanic by trade and worked for the Mullin Company, Hughes Volkswagen, Ken Thomas Volkswagen and retired from civil service at Ft. Benning. Other than his parents Gordon is preceded by four siblings.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Lenora Briley, three children, Judy Karen Briley of Oxford, NC., Randall Clay Briley and wife Lisa of Phenix City, Dr. of Ed., Bonnie Burns and husband Robert of Smiths Station, AL.,
adopted daughter, Tracy Briley of Opelika, AL., , grandsons, Justin Briley and wife, Danielle of Ft. Gordon, GA.,, Jonathan Briley of Phenix City, grandchildren by marriage, Braxten and Brookelynn Carr of Smiths Station,
Cameron and Kaliegh Smith of Ft. Mitchell, AL., nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. To offer condolences please visit www.shphenixcity.com.
