I just learned of Gordie's passing via letter from the Alzheimer's Society of NS, and am so saddened to realize that he won't be making his annual visit. He was truly a delightful man; though I did not know him well, I enjoyed our chats and looked forward to seeing him each year. My deepest condolences to his family.

Gordon came to our home in Dartmouth every year to canvass on behalf of the Alzheimer's Society. We always enjoyed his visits and admired his dedication to that cause- beating the streets, well into his eighties to raise funds for others. For his family to lose such a person, must be sad indeed. He certainly used his days well. A lesson for us all.

Shirley, Barbara and I were shocked to hear of Gordon's passing. We are away for the winter and cannot be there at this sorrowful time, but we will be with you in August for the memorial service in Hubbards. Gordon was a very special man to me in all my years of Masonry. He always had words of encouragement and we would enjoy a story together and there will be a vacuum in the Masonic community with his passing. You have our deepest sympathy and thoughts at this time.. We will be thinking of you and your family and you will all be in our prayers.

God Bless you all,
Jack & Barbara Cossar

If I wanted to write everything I remember about Gordie I would need a huge space, so this abbreviated message will have to suffice.

I met him when I was a kid, maybe seven or eight years old. That, if my calculations are right, was about sixty years ago.

It has always been a pleasure to chat with Gordie, especially at his cottage in Queensland. He told stories --- some of which I am sure were true --- and laughed and enjoyed life!

For all who knew him, Gordie was what we often call a character. His booming voice and his wit were the trademarks he was known by.

What I often saw, and not everyone did, was his kindness and gentleness. All through my life, he helped me to understand things, and people.

My thought and prayers are with Shirley, Joan, Darrell, their families and all who knew and loved Gordie.

He will be missed.
