Gregory Doucet Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 8, 2013.

Mr. Gregory Scott Doucet, age 47, of Etoile, Texas, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2013, at Nacogdoches Medical Center.

Greg was born June 15, 1965, in Fort Worth, Texas, to parents Kenneth J. and Linda Gene (Wyatt) Doucet. He had lived in Nacogdoches County since 1992.

He has been a part of fire service over 30 years, beginning as a junior firefighter at the age of 16. He served as a fireman in Weatherford before moving to Nacogdoches County. Greg helped to organize South Nacogdoches Volunteer Fire Department and served as its first assistant chief and later as the department's second chief. He was presently serving South Nacogdoches VFD as chaplain, as well as chaplain for Nacogdoches County Firefighters Association.

During the past 20 years Greg has also served with other area fire departments, including Appleby, Etoile, Garrison, and Lake Nacogdoches (two years as assistant chief).

He held certifications as Advanced Firefighter, ECA, Training Officer, and Class 4 Engineer. Greg loved the fire service, looking at his service as a way to help people and he has always wanted to help other people.

Greg was dedicated to CrossRoads Christian Center Church.

His survivors include his wife, Cynthia Tippens Doucet of Etoile; son, Randall Wyatt Doucet of Nacogdoches; daughter, Linda Mae Doucet of Missouri; step-sons, Christopher Pierce of Gladewater and Aarron Tippens of Elk City, Oklahoma; grandson, Charles Triastan Fowlkes of Missouri; adopted mom, Louise Turner of Nacogdoches; adopted brothers, Mark Turner and wife Andrea of Houston and Matthew Turner and wife Chantel of Dover, Maryland; uncle, Gene Wyatt of Plano; aunt, Lois Reid of Benton; a host of cousins; and a "granddaughter on the way," Caelyn Hope Fowlkes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, along with his adopted dad, Ron Turner.

Funeral services are set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel, located at 5400 North St. in Nacogdoches, with Pastor Tim Swanson officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, located at 5127 North Street in Nacogdoches.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 12, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Pallbearers: Tommy Lambert, George Millard III, Michael Scott, Mark Dupuis, Ever Bahena, and Brock Weatherford. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be members of South Nacogdoches Volunteer Fire Department.

Greg's family requests that memorial gifts be considered for South Nacogdoches Fire Department, P.O. Box 633311, Nacogdoches, TX 75963-3311, or a volunteer fire department nearby; or National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.

Services are under the direction of Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, Nacogdoches. Online memories and condolences may be offered at www.CasonMonk-Metcalf.com.
