Gustave "Gus" Andersen January 7, 1926 - February 28, 2014 Gus passed away in his sleep the morning of February 28th. He will be missed and lovingly remembered by his friends at the Vista Del Mar assisted living facility in Long Beach, Ca. Gus had lived there for over seven years following the death of his wife, Dolores Andersen, in 2008. Gus served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was gravely wounded in 1952 in combat. He was subsequently discharged due to his wounds, and had received The Purple Heart, United Nations Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, and Korean Service Medal with 3 bronze service stars. Gus passed away in his sleep the morning of February 28th. He will be missed and lovingly remembered by his friends at the Vista Del Mar assisted living facility in Long Beach, Ca. Gus had lived there for over seven years following the death of his wife, Dolores Andersen, in 2008. Gus served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was gravely wounded in 1952 in combat. He was subsequently discharged due to his wounds, and had received The Purple Heart, United Nations Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, and Korean Service Medal with 3 bronze service stars. Gus is survived by his sister, Connie (Jones) Brtek; stepson, Doug Sarvis (Betty); nephews, Terry Jones (Nadia), Robert Jones (Joan), Charles Jones (Helen); and 4 grandnieces, 4 grandnephews, 2 great grandnephews and 1 great grandniece. Gus was very loved and will be deeply missed. His ashes will be scattered at sea in a military service.
