Obituary

Guy A. Goethner formerly of Glastonbury and more recently Southbury, died February 27, 2012 with family by his side. He was 76 years old. Guy was a 1957 graduate of Yale University and completed NROTC while at Yale before serving in the Navy. Guy later completed his MBA at The University of Bridgeport. Mr. Goethner had a career as an Industrial Engineer and then as a Manufacturers Representative in the Environment Engineering field. In addition to being honored to serve in the Navy, he took pride in the history of Yale and his time spent there. Guy A. Goethner formerly of Glastonbury and more recently Southbury, died February 27, 2012 with family by his side. He was 76 years old. Guy was a 1957 graduate of Yale University and completed NROTC while at Yale before serving in the Navy. Guy later completed his MBA at The University of Bridgeport. Mr. Goethner had a career as an Industrial Engineer and then as a Manufacturers Representative in the Environment Engineering field. In addition to being honored to serve in the Navy, he took pride in the history of Yale and his time spent there. He was an avid Red Sox fan and recently attended his first game where he sat on the Green Monster. He enjoyed traveling wherever his RV would take him and was able to travel to such places as Alaska, The Grand Canyon and more. He enjoyed listening to classical music and played classical piano.
He is survived by his children; Steven A. Goethner of Fairfield, CT, Keith D. Goethner and his wife Pam of New Preston, and Ann E. Lockhart and her husband Marc of Richmond, VA., six grandchildren; Stephanie, Nicholas, Blakely, Kali, Cameron and Sydney. He is also survived by his sister Elizabeth (Goethner) Murray of Duxbury, MA., two nephews; John and Kyle Murray and a niece, Kim Bedard and their families, all of MA.
He will be sadly missed by all of those who knew him.
Visiting hours will be held at the Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Tnpk., Glastonbury on Saturday March 10th from 10:30 am until 12 pm, followed by his Funeral Liturgy at 12:30 pm in St. James Episcopal Church, 2584 Main St. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. James Cemetery, Glastonbury, CT.
