NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mrs. Gwandelyn McGee Guillory, age 79, at 9:30 am Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Fr. Ed Degeyter officiating. Interment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery in Elton, Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen on Wednesday at 8:00 am and remain open until service time. A resident of St. Martinville, Mrs. Guillory passed away at 9:00 am on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at her residence.

Gwandelyn's passion in life was to nurture her children in a warm and loving home. She devoted her life to her husband and children. She was truly a selfless and graceful woman. In her early years she worked at a Calcasieu Marine Bank in Elton, LA., then attended Nursing School in New Orleans.

She worked for the School Board/Plaquemines Parish in the 60's moved to New Iberia in the early 70's.
She traveled to the Middle East with her husband in the late 80's then returned to New Iberia. She worked as a seamstress for Abdalla's where she met a new set of friends and kept in touch with them until her last days.

She cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to grow vegetables in her garden, tend to her plants and flowers. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Reggie Guillory and wife Tanya of New Iberia; daughters Jenny G. Perero of St. Martinville, Danette Andersen and husband Mark of Panama City, Florida, Paula Ann Guillory of Prentiss, Mississippi; sister, Annette Thibodeaux of Jennings, Louisiana; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Guillory; parents, Murphy and Iona McGee; brother, Charles McGee and one grandson.
