Harlan George Scott
Born - November 26, 1923, Kansas City, Missouri
Died - August 7, 2018, Portland, Oregon
Harlan was 94 ½ years old, he was preceded
by his wife of 66 years Gertrude Marie Scott (August 2013)
and his daughter Trudy Scott Bradley (September 2012).
He is survived by this Brother (Robert Scott), two sons
(Jesse and Lee Scott), 4 grandchildren (Kevin and Ryan
Gregory, Sabrina Scott and Heather Archer), 4 great grandchild
(Anthony Archer, Madison, Mila and Michaela Scott),
Daughter in Law (RosaLee Scott) and Son in Law (Dan Bradley)
and several nieces and nephews.
Harlan was a 50 year member of the Al Kader Shrine volunteering
at the Shriner's Hospital, the Freemasons serving as Worshipful Master
and Chief Aid to the Potentate and a member of the Scottish Rite.
Harlan was proud of his 37 years of military service, 1942 – 1979.
During World War II he served in the US Navy Air Corp where he
became a champion skeet shooter. During the Korean War he served in
the US Air Force and retired from the Oregon National Guard with the
rank of Command Sergeant Major.
Harlan also worked for the City of Portland in the Engineering
Department as a surveyor.
Harlan and Trudy enjoyed years of Square Dancing, Round Dancing and
Hawaiian Stick Dancing.
In is later years he enjoyed, listening to books on tape, using his computer
to watch You Tube, watching Television (National Geographic, Science
Channel, Mattock, Perry Mason, Judge Judy, Ninga Warrior, and
Cooking Shows), Painting (Acrylic and Oil), Kit Kat bars, Cracker Barrel
sharp cheddar cheese, red wine, vodka tonics, coffee (black), spicy pickles,
garlic, ensure and chicken wings.
Harlan was a Light Hearted, Grumpy, Loving, Opinionated, Loyal and
Compassionate man with a dry sense of humor, who had a clear and active
mind up until the end.
His final words where "I just want to sleep".
