Harold was born March 9, 1923 to Mary Elizabeth Williamson and Robert Williams. He lived all his life in Denver until passing away May 4, 2017 at his home. He attended Steele Elementary Grant Jr High and graduated from South High in 1941. He always worked as a Teen delivering a Denver Post bike route, and working in an antique store. During the war he worked for the Carlson Frink Dairy which supplied all the military in the area. He worked for Smith Welding about ten years until it closed in 1959 then at Allied Steel until his retirement in 1986. Harold's hobbies were HO Trains. He began collecting and set up his first track shortly after getting married. Through the years his collection and tracks grew to quite a set up. He almost always created his own scenery and props. He was very creative. All the grand kids loved to play trains with Grammpy. He also enjoyed wood working and building and refinishing furniture. He often fixed broken down furniture that he or others would collect in alleys. The finished product was always beautiful and sold at yard sales or given away to those who wanted it. He loved to Dance and began Square Dancing in the early 1940's. He was a member of the Sherwood International dancers. With this club he attended the International Folk Festival in ST Louis MO 3 years. He continued to dance off and on though out his life as long as he was able.
On September 30, 1951 Harold married Carol Brady at her home church in Waubay, South Dakota. They met through mutual friends at Warren Methodist Church in Denver. They would have celebrated their 66 th Anniversary this year. Harold and family were members of the Ohio Ave Congregational Church until it merged with the Washington Park United Church of Christ. He served on the board at many times. He was a jack of all trades in helping get the Washington Street Community center started and remained busy there as long as health allowed.
Harold is survived by his wife Carol six children, Bob (Dorcas),Williams, Keith Williams, Sharon (Ralph) Larson, Paul (Lisa) Williams, Lelan Williams, Yvonne (Thomas) Luther. He had 9 grand children Andrew, Tyler, Shane, Dustin, And Emmy Lou Williams,Karl and Shauntay Larson, and Branum and Jessie Luther. Harold also had many nieces , nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life will be held Saturday June 24, 2017 at 2 P.M. at the Washington Park United Church of Christ, 400 South Williams Street, Denver, Co. Memorials may be made to WPUCC or the Washington Street Community Center, 809 So Washington St Denver, or to the charity of your choice
