Born in Henry County to James and Sadie Kessler, Harold was a graduate of Liberty Center High School in 1951. On January 6, 1952, Harold married his high school sweetheart, Ula Spiess, enjoying 62 years of marriage together. In August of 1952, Harold volunteered for the Army 21st Division and was stationed in Fort Lewis, Washington, serving until June 1955. After the service, Harold was employed with the Rossford Ordinance, Campbell Soup, and retired from The Andersons, Inc. after 27 years. Born in Henry County to James and Sadie Kessler, Harold was a graduate of Liberty Center High School in 1951. On January 6, 1952, Harold married his high school sweetheart, Ula Spiess, enjoying 62 years of marriage together. In August of 1952, Harold volunteered for the Army 21st Division and was stationed in Fort Lewis, Washington, serving until June 1955. After the service, Harold was employed with the Rossford Ordinance, Campbell Soup, and retired from The Andersons, Inc. after 27 years. Harold's passion was his family and friends, hunting, and his grandchildren. He was a member of Shiloh Christian Union Church, and the American Legion.
Harold and Ula were blessed with seven children, Arla (Larry) Fry, Glenda (David) Marshall, Mark Kessler, Marlis (Dan) Williams, Rex Kessler, Lois (Tim) Hancock, and Marion (Sheri) Kessler; 20 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Bernice Moore, and Pauline Lambert; and special friends, the Tom and Ruth Witte family. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Mildred Amos, Lawrence "Dutch" Kessler, Melvin "Tom" Kessler, Marion Kessler, and Grace Seymour.
The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Shiloh Christian Union Church (2100 County Road 5, Delta, Ohio) followed by the Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations are suggested to the Liberty Center Public Library, or to Shiloh Christian Union Church. Arrangements entrusted to Snyder Funeral Home, Holgate, Ohio.
