Funeral services for Harold A. Rayburn Sr. age 81of County Route 27 Lisbon, will be held at 11:00am on Friday (Dec 7, 2012) at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin O'Brien officiating. Burial will be held at a later date.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2-4pm & 6-8pm at the funeral home. Mr. Rayburn passed away Tuesday (Dec 4, 2012) at the Riverledge Healthcare Facility surrounded by his loving family.
Surviving is his wife Elizabeth 'Liz"; four sons Harold & Mary Rayburn of Lisbon, Bruce Rayburn of Lisbon, Bryan & Kayla Rayburn of Canton, Duane & Nicole Rayburn of Lisbon; six daughters Deborah & Lynn Billings of Madrid, Diane Todd of Lisbon, Mary & Wayne Fobare of Rensselaer Falls, Norma & Rick Sharpstein of Rome, Karen Rayburn of Potsdam & Brenda Rayburn of Rensselaer Falls; two sisters Dorothy Turner of Geneva, NY & Gladys & Jack Meredith of Florida; 28 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews & cousins.
An infant son Christopher; three brothers William, James & Frederick Rayburn and a sister Marjorie McGaw predeceased him.
Harold was born on February 17, 1931 in Ogdensburg, NY a son of the late Nelson & Anna (Nugent) Rayburn. He graduated from St. Mary's Academy and married Elizabeth "Liz" O'Shaughnessy on June 12, 1954 at St. Mary's Church in Canton. Early in his career, he assisted his father on the family farm and worked at the Lisbon Feed Store. In 1958, he began his longtime employment with Diamond International where he worked as a machine operator until his retirement.
He was a past member of the Lisbon K of C and the Barney Pond Hunting Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, BBQ's dart baseball, watching sports on TV, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Lisbon Fire and Rescue.
