Harry Gordon Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 30, 2016.

Harry Gordon was born on November 16, 1927 in the Bronx, New York City and passed away at his home on November 25, 2016. His mom always told him that the nurse told her he was her 9 lb Thanksgiving turkey because he was born on Thanksgiving Day. Harry was the second child of Florence and David Gordon. He was a responsible young man who couldn't wait to enter the working world, even lying about his age to get a job on a ferry boat. He loved his country and was proud to serve in the United States Navy; he was assigned to the US Hawkins. He served in WWII and the Korean War. After completing his duty, he returned to the Bronx and started his working career. He was employed by the NYC Dept. of Transportation and was a personal chauffeur for Comptroller Harrison Goldin. He met the love of his life, Mary Connelly and they were married in June, 1956. They shared many years of married life enjoying trips and spending a lot of time in Florida, which was their favorite place. They moved to Florida in 1991. Harry was predeceased by Mary in 2003. Harry loved being of service and he was a volunteer for the West Melbourne Police Dept. and a COP for the Brevard County Sheriff's Dept. Harry had a great sense of humor and was loved by his nieces and nephews. We will always remember his many jokes and stories. He will be remembered as a generous man who lived life simply and never took friends or family for granted. He will be sorely missed. Harry was predeceased by his brother Robert Gordon and survived by his sister Frances Tangredi. He will never be forgotten and will always remain in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to the Brevard County Sheriff's Department.
