Harry J. Collingwood, 85, of Chatham, passed away on June 28th after a short battle with cancer and a heart condition. He leaves behind a loving family. His children: Harry Collingwood, Jr. and his wife Sandy, her son Niles Draper. His daughters Debbie Price, her daughters Nicole Belanger, her husband Marc Belanger and their son Jarred, and Amanda Price. And his youngest daughter, Faith Caswell, her husband Sean and their children, Jeremy Tansey, Aaron Caswell and Christopher and his wife Krystle Caswell.

Harry was born in Boston and grew up in Plymouth, Massachusetts. He graduated from Milton Academy and went on to Cornell University where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Economics. During that time he began his fifty year career with Puritan Clothing Company. He enlisted in the military in 1951. He served two years with the 109th Infantry and received an Army of Occupation in Germany where he taught school for 75 soldiers. He was discharged from the Army in 1953 and remained in the Army Reserves for five years.

His love of fishing and the water brought him to Chatham, Massachusetts where he met and married his beloved wife of over 50 years, Janet Collingwood, who passed away in 2010. Harry and Janet built a life and family on Cape Cod. Harry retired from Puritan Clothing Company after more than 50 years of service. The couple retired to Florida and remained there until last year.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, July 29th at Nickerson Funeral Home, 87 Crowell Rd., Chatham, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM. Burial will be held on Wednesday morning in Plymouth with family and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Chatham Fire and Rescue. They treated him with kindness and respect.

"My memories of Harry were about how to live life to the fullest. Love passionately, play hard, work hard and throughout your life always share your love..." Karen Ostrow (TX)
