"God grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change", we are saddened to announce Harry Rodgers Forrest Passed away suddenly on the morning of March 25, 2017, short of reaching his 70th birthday.

Harry was born in Santa Maria, CA on April 16, 1947 to Bill and Sarah Forrest. For a time the Forrest family lived in the South West before retuning to Santa Maria. Harry marveled at the culture and scenery, enjoying several returns visits to this magnificent part of America. In 1960 the family moved to France for 3 years and then on to Turkey where Harry graduated from the American Field Service High School in Ankara. During High School Harry enjoyed the competition and life long friendships he formed while playing basketball in various countries. After High School, Harry enlisted in the Army's 101st Air Borne as a paratrooper. Harry was proud of his service to his country and the country of South Vietnam, in country for 1 year, 6 months and 29days . His Country was also proud of him as he earned the Bronze Star for meritorious service in combat, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Foreign Service Medal. He shared a special kinship to those who also served their Country.

Upon returning from the service, Harry attended Allen Hancock and Cuesta Community Colleges, eventually taking a job with Continental Air Lines. Harry enjoyed his 38 years with Continental and retired as manager of Air Cargo at the Los Angeles hub. Harry was pleased with his contribution to Continental receiving the J.D. Power award for the highest ranked traditional Airline seven times between 1996-2007.

Harry became a devoted member of Alcoholics Anonymous through 27 years of sobriety. He embraced the belief that AA could offer hope to those willing to become sober. Keeping in mind the words of the Serenity Prayer, he took it upon himself to provide support to others by sponsoring countless members and being a friend to others. His trust in the Lord and his belief that combining an individual's faith with the principals of AA could provide strength and wisdom in difficult times. Harry carried over his caring for other, in death by being an organ donor. In his spare time, Harry enjoyed family, building and flying model airplanes, Sports Fishing, and riding his Harley.

Harry is survived by his loving family that includes his two sons, Will Forrest and Luke Forrest who are currently living in Albuquerque, NM; devoted sisters, Sharon Black and Pam Megeath, Nephew Doug Megeath; Brother-in-law Bill Black, niece Staci Bynum; nephew and wife, Bill and Loretta Black, Lauren and Jacob Black, and Terrance, a trusted friend. We know that he is "supremely happy with him, forever in the next"
