Mr. Harry Oakland Foust, Jr., 84, resident of Thomasville, NC, formerly of Norwalk, CT passed away May 20, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Foust was born on December 6, 1929 in White Plains, NY to Mr. and Mrs. Harry Oakland Foust, Sr. He was of the Catholic faith and a Butcher by trade. He was most proud of his service to his country, having served in the United States Army. He was a member of the 1st Calvary and Company B of the 130th Infantry Regiment. Mr. Foust was a very decorated soldier, having received the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, Korean Service Medal with 5 Bronze Service Stars, United Nations Service...
Mr. Harry Oakland Foust, Jr., 84, resident of Thomasville, NC, formerly of Norwalk, CT passed away May 20, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center.
Mr. Foust was born on December 6, 1929 in White Plains, NY to Mr. and Mrs. Harry Oakland Foust, Sr. He was of the Catholic faith and a Butcher by trade. He was most proud of his service to his country, having served in the United States Army. He was a member of the 1st Calvary and Company B of the 130th Infantry Regiment. Mr. Foust was a very decorated soldier, having received the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, Korean Service Medal with 5 Bronze Service Stars, United Nations Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army Occupation Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, and was also awarded a Purple Heart. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Creagh Foust.
Surviving is his wife, Martha Foust of the home; daughters, Catherine O'Connor and her husband Patrick of Sandy Hook, CT, and Maryellen Foust of San Antonio, TX; son, Harry "Murph" Foust III of Sandy Hook, CT; step daughter, Karen Vanak of Trinity, NC; step-sons, William Vanak of Tennessee and Richard Vanak of Danbury, CT; and sister, Evelyn Williamson of Turbotville, PA. Also surviving are numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A celebration of Harry's life will be held at 2pm Saturday, May 31st at Magner Funeral Home,12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk, CT.
Harry touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
