Pywell, Harry E
88, Of Sun City Center, Florida, formerly of Syracuse, New York, on June 5 from congestive heart failure. Born in Washington, D.C. to Harry Eugene Pywell (who was an officer of D.C's MPDC Harbor patrol unit on the Potomac) and Charlotte (Preston) Pywell (who worked in the office of the Assistant Secretary of War) on October 15, 1925. In high school Harry Pywell worked for the federal maps department before he entered the Navy in 1943, which sent him to the University of Pennsylvania and University of Virginia to complete a degree in electrical engineering. At U.Va he started that school's first radio station, and one of his happiest memories was flying over the campus in a friend's private airplane to determine how far the station airwaves transmitted. He also studied mechanical engineering at Johns Hopkins, and completed his MBA at Syracuse University in his mid-fifties. He spent most of his career at General Electric, where he managed several radar defense projects, including North Warning, which extends from the Bering Strait in Alaska, over Canada and back into Maine, and the Peace Shield in Saudi Arabia. Harry was a communicant at Prince of Peace in Sun City Center, and previously at St. Rose of Lima in Syracuse. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus and happily brought communion to parishioners in the nursing homes in Sun City Center. For 55 years he was married to Margaret (Gorman) Pywell. After her death he married Irene (Dennison) Pywell, who passed away late last year. He is survived by his five children and their families: Ken (wife Karen, children Alissa and Claire), Sharon (husband Mark Feldhusen, daughter Claire), James (wife Carol, children Chris and Scott ), Robert (wife Eileen, children Connor and Cameron) and Patricia Schaubroeck (husband Patrick Schaubroeck, children Harry and Zachary). A funeral mass will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Sun City Center at 10:00 a.m. on June 26th . Viewing will be held 45 minutes prior to the funeral. Burial to follow at Florida National Cemetery in. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to LifePath Hospice, 3725 Upper Creek Drive, Ruskin, FL 33573. A memorial service will be planned in Syracuse for later this summer.

To all the Pywell family!
Harry was a great guy! Harry and I worked together at GE Syracuse. He was well regarded by both the Company and customers. Harry came to my 'rescue' several years ago, just after Margaret died. I was looking for someone without success, from Ex GE and/or Lockheed-Martin to join me and represent SYR at a 'North Warning System' reunion in Ottawa. Harry came thru. I picked him up at his daughter Pat's house in SYR and off we went.It worked out well, we shared a room, did a fine job of representing SYR and had a great time. Thanks Harry you will always be remembered!!

Very sorry for the loss of your Dad. Your Mom was my Godmother, and Maid of Honor in my Mom's (Virginia Flynn Trainor) Wedding. During the 90's when Mom and Dad came to visit me in Indian Shores, FL, Harry and Peg would pick them up at Tampa Airport, bring them to their Sun City home for a few days to visit, then to my place. We all went out to dinner many times. Harry was a wonderful man, I know you will miss him. He is your guardian angel now, watching over you. My condolences and prayers are with you at this sad time.
