Harry Warden Simmons, 68, of Staunton passed away on Monday, September 1, 2014 at his residence. Born January 8, 1946 in Columbia, SC; he was the son of the late James Stocker Simmons, III and Jane (Parkins) Simmons. Harry was a U.S. Army Veteran having served his country honorably during the Vietnam War. He was employed with Mary Baldwin College, where he worked in the maintenance department and retired after 15 years of faithful service. He attended Trinity Episcopal Church, Staunton. Harry Warden Simmons, 68, of Staunton passed away on Monday, September 1, 2014 at his residence.
Born January 8, 1946 in Columbia, SC; he was the son of the late James Stocker Simmons, III and Jane (Parkins) Simmons.
Harry was a U.S. Army Veteran having served his country honorably during the Vietnam War. He was employed with Mary Baldwin College, where he worked in the maintenance department and retired after 15 years of faithful service. He attended Trinity Episcopal Church, Staunton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Jack S. Simmons.
Survivors include his siblings, James Simmons and wife, Brenda of Verona and Frances (Simmons) Atkins and husband, Robert of Staunton; aunt, Mary Lou Parkins; three nephews and six nieces.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, September 8, 2014 at Thornrose Cemetery with The Rev. Dr. Paul S. Nancarrow officiating.
There will be no formal viewing or visitation at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial donations to Valley Community Services Board, 85 Sangers Lane, Staunton, VA 24401.
