Services for Hattie Udean Evans, 96, of Tyler are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Monday, June 19, 2017 in the chapel of Lloyd James Funeral Home. Burial is in Flint Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 P.M., Monday prior to the service.
She died peacefully on June 16, 2017 at Hospice of East Texas. Hattie was born to Author and Callie McMillan on August 18, 1920 in Desdemona. She was one of eleven children. Hattie married Guy Evans in June of 1948 and they were married for 46 years.
Family and friends were Hattie's passion. She worked as a beautician for 42 years. Her customers also became lifetime friends. Hattie considered herself an East Texan although she grew up in West Texas. Hattie said, "I have fond memories about Tahoka and O'Donnell even if I did grow up during the depression, dust bowl and WWII."
Hattie is survived by two sisters, Ilene McMillan of O'Donnell and Ollie Pendleton of Seminole; one daughter, Kay Curry of Lindale; two granddaughters, Angela Harrell of Frisco and Marla Curry of Rockwall, and one great grandson.
Hattie was a member of Pollard Methodist Church and a member of the Gertrude Pitts Sunday school class. Memorials may be made to the Pollard Methodist Church or Hospice of East Texas.
