Hazel Payne Selph Frith, 79, of Ridgeway,Virginia passed away Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro. She was born in Ringgold, VA, September 23, 1933 to Rorer Allen Payne and Minnie Eanes Payne. Hazel lived in Florida for 27 years before returning to Greensboro and later to Ridgeway. She was a member of Starling Avenue Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Paul Frith; three brothers, Oscar, Lewis and Carroll Payne.
She is survived by a daughter, Kathy Lynn Hrytzay of Ridgeway; a son, Charles Edward Selph, II and wife, Kelly of Floral City, FL; one sister, Sadie Carter of Greensboro; three grandchildren, Arthur Hrytzay, Kristina Ortego, Jacob Honshul and four great-grandchildren, all of Florida; a special friend, Eunice Roberts of Collinsville; one niece, several nephews and many special cousins and friends.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, September 1, 2013 at 2 PM at Highland Burial Park in Danville with Dr. David Adkins officiating. The family will receive friends 30 minutes following the graveside service and other times at the residence in Ridgeway.
Pallbearers will be: Thomas Payne, Robert Payne, Paul Eanes and Arthur Hrytzay; Honorary Pallbearers: Billy Heath and Keith Carter.
Memorials may be made to the Oscar Payne Scholarship Fund, C/O Elks Lodge, P. O. Box 227, Danville, VA 24543.
Arrangements are by McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville.

I only knew Hazel for a short time but I became very fond of her in that period of time. She was such a sweet lady. I will miss her smiling face. My prayers are with she and her family.

I WAS SO SAD TO READ ABOUT HAZEL.WE WENT TO SCHOOL TOGETHER. I LIVED AT MT HERMON AND SHE LIVED ON THE CORNER OF FRANKLIN TURNPIKE AND PINEY FOREST RD. NOW WHERE WENDYS IS LOCATED. THEY WERE THE GOOD OLE DAYS. SHE WAS ALWAYS SO NICE AND FRIENDLY.THOU IT HAS BEEN YEARS SINCE I SAW HER I WILL NEVER FORGET HER.
