Irene Hanson, age 84, of Abilene passed away July 11, 2014 at an area care center. A graveside funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Monday, July 14, 2014 at Oplin Cemetery. Jamey McCravey will officiate. Services are under the care and direction of Community Memorial Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hanson was born September 26, 1929 to Archie James Rhodes and Gladys Bailey Rhodes in Paris, TX. She married Quinton Hanson in Buffalo, South Dakota on November 21, 1968. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five brothers, and three sisters.
Remaining behind to cherish Irene's memory are her two daughters, Patricia Sears of Abilene and Jackie Schneider and husband Wayne of Carlsbad, TX; sister, Willi Turner of Merkel, Mozelle Bennie of Brownwood; brothers, Dub Jowers of San Angelo, Don Jowers of Merkel; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 6 until 8PM at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St. Abilene. Online condolences may be made at www.communitymemorialfh.com.
