Helen Richards Obituary

Remembering Irene Richards

Helen Richards of Bellville, Texas at 93 years of age, quietly went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 28, 2016. Helen was born in Miami, Florida on January 15, 1923 to John A. and Nellie Campbell. She was married to the love of her life, Roland Richards, for 57 years during which time she was a devoted wife and mother. Helen moved to Texas in her younger years and married Roland. They had five children, who were the center of their lives. Helen stayed active in her community from being a scout leader in the Brownies and Girl Scouts to the Rotary Ann's in Pasadena. She also supported the Austin County Fair Auctions, Bellville firemen, Cancer Society, and other fund raising activities in Pasadena and Bellville.
In 1986 she moved to Bellville and lived on their ranch. This is where the family came together enjoying each other, while riding horses, working cows, fishing, and just relaxing. She enjoyed the western riding as well as her English when she showed horses at shows like the Pin Oak in Houston, Texas. She loved the great grandkids and how they would come and go throughout the day. She would take them riding, swimming, boating, and on treasure hunts. A woman truly devoted to her family in every way. She was a Proverbs 31 woman.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband , Roland Richards, parents John A. and Nellie Campbell, her older sisters Alice, Dorothy, and her older brother John. She is survived by her 5 children, Kenneth Richards and wife, Jeannie, Sharon Duperier and husband Craig, James Richards, Carolyn Cordes and husband Greg, Rhonda Dean and husband Michael; 8 grandchildren, Tamara Moerbe and husband Ben, Roland Guthrie, Matthew Dean and wife Kristin, Brittany Costanzo and husband Christopher, Laurie Leveton, Jamie Crowe and husband Coy, Esther Richards and Elizabeth Richards; and 6 great grandchildren.

Helen Richards will be laid to rest on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, Texas.

My grandmother was a truly amazing person, and was actually nearer to a mother to me in my early life - I will miss her always

Aunt Helen was such an amazing woman. I loved my visits with her both in Miami when she came to visit and in Pasadena when I would visit her and where she helped me hunt for horny toads as a young girl. I know she will be greatly missed and send my condolences to the family.
