Helen L. (Winstead) Bruce, 92, of Evansville, formerly of Providence, KY, died Monday, October 10, 2016 at Evansville Protestant Home.
She worked as an inspector at the Sunbeam armaments plant during WWII and later in the bridal department at Schultz's, Women's Wear at Salms, and The Evansville Store. She loved working with the children and singing in the choir at Heritage Baptist Church.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, William "Gene" E. Bruce, in 2000.
She is survived by her son, Michael (Angela) of Owensboro; sister-in-law, Patsy Davis of Madisonville; grandson, Jeff (Anne) of Glasgow; nieces; and trusted friend and neighbor, Bonnie Wink.
A family memorial service will be 11:30 AM Friday, October 14, 2016, in Oak Grove Cemetery in Dixon, KY. Friends may visit Thursday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Alexander East Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Heritage Baptist Church or to Evansville Protestant Home South Nursing Unit caregiver staff.
