Helen Marie Bolitho, 88, of Vancouver, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014, at Ray Hickey Hospice House. She was born on November 24, 1925, in Florence, Montana to John H. and Sima S. Hendrickson. She was the second child of twelve. Helen was raised on the family farm near Florence, Montana.

Helen met her husband-to-be, Bruce, at Columbia Gardens Park in Butte, Montana. He saw her walking toward him and told a friend, "that is the girl I'm going to marry." They were married on August 2, 1945, in Missoula, Montana.

Helen moved to Washington in 1960 when Bruce took a job with Bonneville Power in Chehalis, Washington. They moved to Vancouver in 1962.

Montana was a very special place for Helen. Even after living in Washington for 54 years, she still called Montana "home." In July 2013, she and Bruce spent three weeks at the family's ranch in Montana.

Helen was a homemaker who enjoyed music, working in her yard, watching birds and cooking for her family. She got great joy from hosting family dinners and holidays. Helen had a deep Christian faith and was active in Columbia Presbyterian Church and the Marion Circle.

Helen was spiritual inspiration to everyone. She was strong, loving, kind and fun. She lived her faith by example and will be missed by many.

Family was an important part of Helen's life. Her love, care and selflessness will be forever in our hearts.

Helen is survived by her children, John Bolitho (Liz) and Nancy Green; grandchildren, Gary Bolitho, Sandi Rubin and Christopher Green; great grandchildren, Bradley Bolitho, McKenna Rubin, Jensin Rubin, Kyra Green and Collin Green; sisters, Lorene Templeton, ViJean Marostica, Shirley McDonald and Judy Hendrickson; and sisters-in-law, Darlene Haller, Margaret Hendrickson, Gwen Hendrickson and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by Bruce, her loving husband of 68 years; parents; one sister and six brothers.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Ray Hickey Hospice House.
Arrangements under the direction of Vancouver Funeral Chapel, Vancouver, WA.
