Obituary

Helen B. Bullock, 97, of Prattsburgh, went peacefully to be with her Lord on Saturday, January 28, 2012, at the Taylor Health Center in Bath, NY. She was born on September 29, 1914 in Elmira, NY, the daughter of William and Evelyn Stanton Boardman. She graduated from Public School of the City of Elmira and the Elmira Business Institute. She married Gerald W. Bullock in 1940 and eventually settled in Prattsburgh. Helen worked all her life and retired from Empire Telephone Corp. at the age of 65, after 26 years of service, but went on to work part time for years as a travelling companion to Mrs. Herman Wagner. Helen B. Bullock, 97, of Prattsburgh, went peacefully to be with her Lord on Saturday, January 28, 2012, at the Taylor Health Center in Bath, NY.

She was born on September 29, 1914 in Elmira, NY, the daughter of William and Evelyn Stanton Boardman. She graduated from Public School of the City of Elmira and the Elmira Business Institute. She married Gerald W. Bullock in 1940 and eventually settled in Prattsburgh.

Helen worked all her life and retired from Empire Telephone Corp. at the age of 65, after 26 years of service, but went on to work part time for years as a travelling companion to Mrs. Herman Wagner. She volunteered and was devoted to multiple organizations as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Bennett Chapter #504, with ten years as a treasurer, charter member of the Prattsburgh Senior Citizens, also serving as a president and treasurer for 35 years, and as a member of Prattsburgh Francis J. Flaherty American Legion Auxiliary serving as a president for 2 years and chaplain for 4 years. She was active in the Women's Forum and the Women's Society of the United Methodist Church and served as treasurer for over 19 years, and worked with many aspects of the R.S.V.P. Program. She was also an avid bowler for many years. She acquired the name "Money Bags" while acting as treasurer of many organizations.

Surviving are her children, Jane B. Hill of Pulteney, NY, James H. (Elsie) Bullock of Albuquerque, NM and Glenn H. (Kay) Bullock of Palmyra, NY to whom she was a dedicated and devoted mother; eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her siblings.

A funeral service will begin with a ritual by the Order of the Eastern Star at 7PM, Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Bottoni-Wood Funeral Home, 4 Mechanic Street, Prattsburgh, NY 14873. Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 3PM until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions in Mrs. Bullock's name may be made to Prattsburgh United Methodist Church, 4 Porter St., Prattsburgh, NY 14873 and/or the Bennett Chapter #504 (O.E.S.) of Prattsburgh, Prattsburgh Masonic Temple, N. Main St., Prattsburgh, NY 14873.
