HILTON HEAD: Helen Lowe Torbert, 84, passed on March 28, 2014 at Palm Meadow Village on Hilton Head. She was living in Hilton Head, SC and was formerly living in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. Helen was born on June 14, 1929 in Savannah, GA to the late Carl and Mae Montgomery Lowe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter G. Torbert; sisters, Frances Bradley and Carlyn McElreath; and brother, John M. Lowe. Helen graduated from Stetson University and attained her Masters of Education from the University of Florida. She taught school for fifteen years and was a principal at Cedar Hills Elementary for fifteen years in Duval County,...

She was living in Hilton Head, SC and was formerly living in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. Helen was born on June 14, 1929 in Savannah, GA to the late Carl and Mae Montgomery Lowe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter G. Torbert; sisters, Frances Bradley and Carlyn McElreath; and brother, John M. Lowe.

Helen graduated from Stetson University and attained her Masters of Education from the University of Florida. She taught school for fifteen years and was a principal at Cedar Hills Elementary for fifteen years in Duval County, FL. She retired after thirty years. Helen was a member of Ponte Vedra Presbyterian Church.

Helen was a breast cancer survivor and the family requests that if so desired make a donation in her name to your local Breast Cancer Research organization.

Survivors include nieces: Linda Mikkelson(Don) Hilton Head, SC, Mary Helen McElreath, Augusta, GA, Carla Holt(Tim) Warner Robins, GA, Kathleen Bradley, Pembroke, GA and Ginny Hughes, Ormond Beach, FL; and nephew Terry McElreath(Ann), Hendersonville, NC.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
