Groot (Hekman) Maria Henriette
Henriette Maria Groot (Hekman), age 89, of Caledonia, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2012. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Eiko Hekman; brothers, Hank, Gerard, and Case Ruijs; sister, Maria Mervau; and also 2nd husband, Andrew Groot. Surviving is a daughter, Ann Marie Hekman (Chuck) and sons, John (Terri) Hekman and Ike (Becky) Hekman; sister, Gerda Kuypers and brother, Toon (Thea) Ruijs. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Kina Eefsting, Fennie Hekman, Annie Ruijs, Nelly Ruijs and Clasina Ruijs.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1120 4 Mile Rd. N.E. Grand Rapids. The family will receive friends at Reyers North Valley Chapel, 2815 Fuller Ave. N.E., Grand Rapids on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may also visit at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00.
Those desiring are asked to consider a contribution to Faith Hospice in memory of Mrs. Groot.

Sorry to hear about the death of your mother and grandmother. We will remember her as a lovely and strong person. It was always nice taking to her when she was over in Holland. Also on behalf of my brothers and sisters we express our sympathy and wish you all strenghth in this difficult period.
