Henry W. "Hank" Abts, 92 of West Raintree Dr. South, died at 10:35 P.M. Saturday, November 06, 2010 at Four Seasons Health Care Facility. Mr. Abts was born in Columbus, Nebraska on July 03, 1918, the son of the late Matthew and Irene Xanders Abts. He married Virginia "Dede" Lung in Kokomo, IN. on November 07, 1942 and she survives. Mr. Abts was a WWII United States Army Air Corp. Veteran. He retired from Cummins Engine Company where he was the Vice President of Business Administration. Henry W. "Hank" Abts, 92 of West Raintree Dr. South, died at 10:35 P.M. Saturday, November 06, 2010 at Four Seasons Health Care Facility.
Mr. Abts was born in Columbus, Nebraska on July 03, 1918, the son of the late Matthew and Irene Xanders Abts.
He married Virginia "Dede" Lung in Kokomo, IN. on November 07, 1942 and she survives.
Mr. Abts was a WWII United States Army Air Corp. Veteran.
He retired from Cummins Engine Company where he was the Vice President of Business Administration.
He was a former Indiana Director of Arkwright-Boston Liberty Mutual.
Mr. Abts earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Butler University where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. He was a trustee at the Howe Military School in Howe, IN.
Mr. Abts was the first president of the Otter Creek Golf Course where he was on the board of directors for 12 years.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Harrison Lake Country Club and Rotary International along with numerous other civic organizations.
In keeping with Mr. Abts wishes, a private family memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hathaway-Myers Chapel on Pearl St.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Riley Hospital for Children Foundation at 30 South Meridian St., Suite 200, Indianapolis, IN. 46204, The Greg Farnham Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of The Columbus Foundation at 1234 East Broad St., Columbus, OH. 43205 or to the Butler Alumni in care of Butler University Office of Annual Giving at 4600 Sunset Ave., Indianapolis, IN. 46208.

Along with his wife, Dede of 68 years, Mr. Abts is also survived by a daughter, Susan (Jack) Farnham of Westerville, OH.; a son, Bruce Abts of Columbus, IN.; three grandchildren, David Farnham of Columbus, OH. and Hannah Abts and Matt Potter both of Columbus, IN.; and a great granddaughter, Sierra Farnham of Columbus, OH.
Mr. Abts was preceded in death by his grandson, Greg Farnham and a sister, Irene Abts.
