Henry Desetta Obituary

Mr. Henry DeSetta, age, 91, of Rome, GA, died at a local hospital Thursday November 7, 2013.

Mr. DeSetta was born in Woodmere, Long Island, New York on August 5, 1922. He was the son of the late Vincent DeSetta and Antoinette Stancoti DeSetta. He was also preceded in death by three brothers: Carman DeSetta, Dominic DeSetta, and Albert DeSetta.

Mr. DeSetta was a purple-heart recipient from the battle of St. Lo in France during World War II. He was also a life-long member of the Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 American Legion on Shorter Avenue, and members of Woodmere United Methodist Church in New York. He and his wife were residents of Woodmere for 40 years where they owned the DeSetta Nursery, a landscaping and gardening center. After retirement, they spent their time between St. Petersburg, FL. and Rome, GA.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years Mrs. Ruth Pottel DeSetta; two sons, Henry DeSetta of Armuchee, David DeSetta and his wife Mary of Hewlett, New York; one daughter, Linda Evans and her husband Lynn of Armuchee; and five grandchildren: West Evans, Nicole DeSetta, Haley DeSetta, Jeanette DeSetta and Nicholas DeSetta.

Services for Mr. DeSetta were held Sunday, November 10, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Daniel's Funeral Home with Rev. Monty Stallins officiating. Entombment followed in the new mausoleum at Myrtle Hill Cemetery. The family received friends Sunday afternoon from 12:30 until the funeral hour at Daniel's. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to Second Ave Baptist Church 823 East 2nd Avenue Rome, GA. 30161.

The Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 of the American Legion Honor Guard provided full military rites at the gravesite.
