Obituary

Henry "Bud" Lewis, Jr., 83, of Bryan, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the Hospice Brazos Valley Inpatient unit in Bryan. Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 P.M. Monday, October 29, 2012 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. A graveside service is scheduled for 10 A.M. Tuesday October 30, 2012 at Rest-Ever Memorial Park Cemetery in Bryan with Gerald Jenkins officiating. Bud was born January 28, 1929 at Good Hope, Louisiana to Erna and Henry Thomas Lewis, Sr. He graduated from Destrehan High School in Destrehan, Louisiana and attended LSU at Baton Rouge (though after moving to Bryan in 1969, he discovered he was Aggie fan at...

Bud was born January 28, 1929 at Good Hope, Louisiana to Erna and Henry Thomas Lewis, Sr. He graduated from Destrehan High School in Destrehan, Louisiana and attended LSU at Baton Rouge (though after moving to Bryan in 1969, he discovered he was Aggie fan at heart). He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked for General American Transportation Corporation (GATX) and retired after 37 years of service. He loved to garden and made the best gumbo known to man. He was a member of the Central Christian Church, a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Donald Lewis; one sister, Lorraine Engnath; and a grandson, Matt Lewis.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Lewis of Bryan; two daughters and sons-in-law, Terri and Gerald Jenkins of Mansfield, Texas and Ginger and Michael Haskins of Dallas; one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Nancy Lewis of Bryan; four grandchildren, Tom Jenkins, Chuck Jenkins, Amanda Underhill, and Rachel Lewis; six great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made in memory of Henry Lewis to Hospice Brazos Valley.
