Obituary

Henry Wallace Meador, 89, passed away at home after a brief illness on June 12, 2013 with family members at his side. Wallace was born on February 1, 1924 in Dallas to Emma Ann Hill Meador and Harry Meador. He graduated from Highland Park High School in 1942. Previously he attended Sunset High School and Rosemont Elementary School in Oak Cliff. He attended SMU and the University of Texas. Wallace was on the tennis and track teams in high school, and was an avid sports fan. In 1951 he married Jean Skillern, and they had five children together and were married 61 years. Henry Wallace Meador, 89, passed away at home after a brief illness on June 12, 2013 with family members at his side. Wallace was born on February 1, 1924 in Dallas to Emma Ann Hill Meador and Harry Meador. He graduated from Highland Park High School in 1942. Previously he attended Sunset High School and Rosemont Elementary School in Oak Cliff. He attended SMU and the University of Texas. Wallace was on the tennis and track teams in high school, and was an avid sports fan.
In 1951 he married Jean Skillern, and they had five children together and were married 61 years. He was a devoted father and a coach and sponsor of youth football, baseball and basketball teams. He was a member of Highland Park Presbyterian Church and the Dallas Country Club. Wallace was involved in commercial real estate as a developer, owner and property manager in the Dallas area for over 60 years and was active in this area until the last days of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Jean, daughter Ann Williams and husband Mike and daughters Emma and Hannah, son Wilson and wife Kenda North, and daughters Cody and Daryl, daughter Jeanie Chandler and husband Mickey, son John and wife Tanya, and sons Matthew and William, and son Tommy and wife Martha C. and children, Regan and Wesley. He is also survived by his sister, Betty Stewart and her husband Bill and numerous nieces and nephews
Wallace was known for his love and devotion to his family, generosity and kindness to all, his story telling and his great sense of humor. He will be missed by all who loved him.
A Memorial Service will be at 10:00 am on Monday, June 17, 2013 at Sparkman/Hillcrest Northwest Highway Chapel, 7405 W. Northwest Hwy., Dallas, TX. In lieu of flowers friends are asked to make donations to the SPCA of Texas (http://www.spca.org/) or Teach for America (http://www.teachforamerica.org).
