The next 13 years were packed with significant life events, where he balanced education, family, and career. On August 7, 1955 he married his high school sweetheart, Joy June Johnson. His son, Rolan, was born in 1957; He earned his Bachelors Degree in Aerodynamics from Wichita State University and started working at Beech Aircraft in 1958. He started his career at Boeing (Wichita) in 1959. His daughter, Kaylene, was born in 1960. The family moved to Seattle in 1962 for Henry's job. He completed his Masters Degree in Aerodynamics from Wichita State University in 1964. In 1965, he was accepted into the PhD program at the University of Washington. In 1967, the family moved into their dream home in Normandy Park, where Henry & Joy lived for 43 years.

Henry had a 36 year career at Boeing, where he was an engineer on the B-52, SST, and 747 programs, before being promoted to management. He managed a number of programs in Preliminary Design, his last contributing to the new manufacturing processes used for the 777 production. He retired from Boeing in 1995.

In retirement, Henry and Joy volunteered with Mercy Ships, spending 6 months in Rotterdam, Netherlands. They also spent many summers volunteering for the US Forest Service as backcountry rangers. They also used this time to travel and expand their research into the family genealogy.

Henry is known for his love of family, God, and the outdoors. He enjoyed many activities and hobbies, usually sharing in these with the family: camping, road trips, hiking, backpacking, climbing, cross country skiing, bicycling, and taking thousands of slides and pictures. He was active in his church, and often held a leadership position.

Henry is preceded in death by his wife, Joy, who passed away August 2012.

Survivors include: son Rolan and daughter-in-law Lynn (WA), daughter Kaylene (FL); grandchildren: Nathan (WA), Kristen (WA), Brittany (FL); sister Carolyn and brother-in-law Jim Rodenberg (VA); and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2pm at Bear Creek Community Church, 18931 NE 143rd ST, Woodinville.

The family expresses their thanks and gratitude to the staff at Sunrise on Mercer Island, where both Henry and Joy spent their final years. In addition, many thanks to Judy and John for the years of personal care showed to Henry and Joy in visits and facilitating outings.
