We sadly announce that our dear husband, father and (great) grandpa passed away on February 28, 2014 after a lengthy battle with multiple myeloma. Bert is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Sheila, and children Yvonne (Ron), David (Colleen), Michael (Stephanie), Jacqueline (Brett), Nancy (Jim) and grandchildren, Nigel (Danielle), Alicia (Andy), Garrett (Sarah), Leanne, Shelby, Brittney, Brendan, Chelsea, Gabrielle, Chloe, Daniel, Marcus & Gregory, as well as great grandchildren Liam and Presley.
Born in Islington, Highbury England, Bert and his family immigrated to Canada in 1955 and made it their home. Bert trained in England as a civil engineer and continued in his passion and profession for the majority of his life in Canada. He was a proud member of the 3rd Field Squadron of the Militia Unit in Ottawa during the 60's before moving to Western Canada in the 70's
Among Bert's many accomplishments was the design of bridges for the BC Department of Forestry which included the design of the bridges used during the 2010 Winter Olympics cross country ski trails.
Special thanks to Dr. Page and all the doctors and caregivers of the Fraser Health Authority. A special thanks to Dr. GaIbraith and the nurses of the Abbotsford Cancer Unit. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

We will love and miss you always.
Sleep, my love, and peace attend thee
All through the night
Guardian angels God will send thee
All through the night
Soft the drowsy hours are creeping
Hill and dale in slumber sleeping
I my loving vigil keeping
All through the night

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date
