Herbert Hoover Call, 84, of Lenoir, went to be with the Lord Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Lenoir.
Mr. Call was born in Wilkes County to the late Thomas Call and Nannie Vea Call. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Parsons Call; his son, Bruce Call and 10 brothers and sisters. He was retired from the furniture industry and was a proud veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean War and was a devoted Christian, loved to play music, dance and fish.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Tom Call and wife Hiromi of Orlando, FL, Jerry Call of Morganton, David Call of Gamewell, Jake Call and wife Becky of Watertown, NY, Ken Call and wife Angela of Bethlehem, Gwyn Call and wife Anna of Lenoir and Tim Call and fiancé Kristy Willis, of Lenoir; his daughters, Mary Call Munger and husband Ray of Conover and Lynn Call Stringham and husband Doug of Lenoir; two brothers, Lloyd Call of Mt. View and Jim Call of North Wilkesboro; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
A graveside service for Mr. Call will be held Monday April 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Blue Ridge Memorial Park with Reverend James Hamby officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, April 1, 2013 from 10:00 am until 11:00 a.m. at Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons and cousins.
The family requests that memorials be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
