Herbert Hyman

He fought a soldier's valiant fight and beat the odds against war wounds and Parkinson's until Saturday, April 27, 2013. Herbie is now receiving that much deserved rest and journey as he walks his Puppy, Puppy, Puppy "Rothchild" and Pancake side by side on the sidewalks of heaven.
He leaves behind an Angel Caregiver and Partner in laughter of 57 years (because they had nothing else to do that day), his wife Roz Hyman. Three children, Ronald, Cheryl and Denise (Dear D.H. Whoever you are), that he loved unconditionally, instilled value and respect into, played practical jokes on (even when they were teenagers and didn't think it was funny) and spoiled beyond words. His Son-In-Law, Bill, that he loved and cared for as one of his own, with all the generosity a father can offer. A Granddaughter Maria (his favorite nurse) that would make his eyes light up. A Grandson Josh and two Great Grandchildren, Makenzie and Mason whom did not get enough time with Herbie to listen to his jokes or stories over and over and over, but will be forever touched and part of the legacy he leaves behind.
Herbie served as a proud Paratrooper in the Army for his Country during the Korean War where he sustained severe injuries while in a tank. He was a man that built his life on "I can and will" and overcame those injuries that he was told he would not. In his younger years he was a man of all trades and his children will tell you "he went to school and has a degree for that, whatever "that" might be". After bringing his family to Sarasota, he became a successful Real Estate Developer, perhaps best known for his 3 hotels on Lido Beach and Azure Tides Beach Bar. His retirement gave him time to be with family and friends and there was not a person with whom he did not have a joke to tell or story to share.
Herbie's hobbies were his children and family, his dogs, what practical joke he could do next and laughter. He was generous to all and loved to give a kind touch with a swipe of his hand. He said "I love you" with true sincerity daily to his family and friends.
While the kisses he blew as he held their hand will be terribly missed, his family takes great comfort in knowing that he is now with his beloved Mother, Betty, Father David, Sister Lillian, Mother-In-Law Beatrice (that finally promoted him to favorite Son-In-Law) and his Father-In-Law, Sam, making a game.
Services will be held at Temple Beth Shalom Cemetery, 901 Circus Blvd, Sarasota, Section H, on Thursday, May 2nd, 4:30 p.m. followed by a gathering. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Herbie's name be made to Hospice of Sarasota.
