Herman "Jay" Cassard, Jr., 68, passed away at home on Monday, March 10, 2014. He was born December 3, 1945 to Herman and Eloise (Hernandez) Cassard, Sr. in Donaldsonville, Louisiana. On May 2, 1966 he married Irene Morales in Donaldsonville, Louisiana. Jay enjoyed hunting, fishing, and raising all sorts of birds.
Survivors include his wife Irene; his one daughter, Dawn Bourget and her husband Marc of Baton Rouge; three sons, Herman Cassard III and his wife Wendy of Donaldsonville, Dennis Cassard and his wife Michelle of White Castle and Anthony Cassard of Baton Rouge; five grandchildren, Emelie, Madisyn, Cody, Norie and Marley; one sister, Betty Cassard of Donaldsonville; one brother, Raymond Cassard of Donaldsonville; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents.
Family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Bryan Bienvenu and staff of Mary Bird Perkins Cancer center for their care and Mrs. Audrey Johnson for her tireless friendship.
A time of gathering will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 10:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. at Ourso Funeral Home in Donaldsonville, Louisiana. Condolences can be made at www.oursodonaldsonville.com . Memorial donations can be made to the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, 4950 Essen Lane, Baton Rouge, La 70809.
