Hildegard "Hilda" H. Atkins, 87, of Princeton, went home to be with the Lord Jesus on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Mercer Nursing & Rehab, Bluefield WV.
Born July 23, 1924, at Bremerhaven, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Otto Karl Lindigkeit and Charlotte Lindigkeit of Bremerhaven, Germany.
Hilda was a former employee for Princeton Community Hospital and Leggett's Department Store in Princeton. She was a loving and devoted mother; she loved planting flowers and was an avid gardener. Hilda became a U.S. Citizen on April 22, 1965. She was a member of the Princeton Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her parents, Hilda is preceded in death by two brothers, Vernor and Heinz Lindigkeit.
Hilda will be sadly missed by her son, Ralph L. Atkins of Princeton, with whom she made her home and was her devoted son and caregiver. She also leaves behind her two pets, Heidi and Andy.
Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 28, 2011 at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Dan Gunnoe and Reverend Herman Tracy French.
Friends will serve as pallbearers.
Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
