Obituary

Hildred Verna Bertsch, 78, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2014, at the HPH Hospice Care Center in Brooksville, Florida. Hildred was a resident of Cloverleaf Farms in Brooksville. Hildred was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 7, 1936, to the late Edward and Theresa (DeVries) Stanquist. She and her husband, Floyd C. Bertsch, moved to Cloverleaf in 1996 from Kouts, Indiana. Hildred worked as a secretary for the Sherwin Williams Paint Company, where she and Floyd first met. Hildred Verna Bertsch, 78, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2014, at the HPH Hospice Care Center in Brooksville, Florida. Hildred was a resident of Cloverleaf Farms in Brooksville.



Hildred was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 7, 1936, to the late Edward and Theresa (DeVries) Stanquist. She and her husband, Floyd C. Bertsch, moved to Cloverleaf in 1996 from Kouts, Indiana.



Hildred worked as a secretary for the Sherwin Williams Paint Company, where she and Floyd first met. Additionally, she worked as secretary for her home church, Bellevue Baptist, as well as a legal secretary for a Chicago law firm. Hildred then owned and operated her own fabric store, A Stitch ’N Time, in Dyer, Indiana.



While living in Indiana, Hildred served as the choir director for Hillside Community Church in Crown Point and volunteered at Hebron based Every Child Ministries, Inc.



She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Floyd Bertsch, daughter Janice Bertsch, and her brother Ed Stanquist. She is survived by her daughters, Debra Roberts (Joseph) of Spring Hill, Florida, Lynda McMillan (Corry) of Cumming, Georgia; granddaughters, Anna, Emma and Jenna Roberts and Lian McMillan.



Christian by faith, Hildred was a member of Faith Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Brooksville, Florida, where she previously served as both the Hand Bell Choir Director and Editor of the church newsletter.



Hildred served as a past president of the Cloverleaf Farms Homeowners Association and Editor of the Cloverleaf Newsletter.
