Angstadt, Jr., Dr. Homer B., 88, entered into rest on April 17, 2013. He was born
in Reading, PA in 1924. He was a talented gymnast who paid his way through medical
school by performing Vaudeville acts and graduated Philadelphia Osteopathic College of Medicine in 1959.
He moved to Largo with his family that same year and began Family Practice in Dunedin, FL.
He was affiliated with Suncoast Hospital as Chief of Staff for over 4 years in the 1970's. He had an extraordinary dedication and devotion to his patients, family and friends. An average
day for Dr. Angstadt began with early morning hospital rounds, a packed office day schedule,
after hour nursing home and house call visits, ending with evening hospital rounds. He
was truly a "One Man Dynamo."
Dr. Angstadt was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, of over 50 years. Survivors include
his 3 children, Brian Angstadt of Clearwater, FL., Sharian Angstadt-Kirby of Clearwater, Fl.,
Pamela Custer of Clearwater, FL., two grandchildren, Tiffany Custer of Indian Rocks Beach,
Fl., and Melanie Custer of Charlotte, N.C.

My big brother, Homer, touched many people. I remember so well his musical comedy acrobatic dance act with my sister, Patricia. "Homer and Holly," the two redheads, danced/tumbled to "Don't Be That Way" by Benny Goodman. It was lovely, not ordinary vaudeville. "The Three White Flashes" was an earlier tumbling act with Homer, Sis Mengel, and my brother, Raymond, who died in 1993. Of the four Angstadt children only my sister, Patricia, and I remain. We all loved, cherished, and supported Homer. He was special. I will always hold him in my heart.

Our deepest sympathy to you, Pam,
Brian, and Shari. We have so many wonderful memories over all the years, from 1967! We could spend hours reminiscing all the great times we have had together, with Helen and Homer, and with the three of you. He was the most wonderful Dr. to our family, and will always hold him in our hearts. With much Love, Willi & Ruth

Dr. Angstadt took care of my mother when she was pregnant with me. Both of my parents have shared very fond memories of him with me. They spoke of him many time over the years and they had the highest regard for him as a doctor and a person. I never knew him, but I feel like he kept me safe inside my mom and made sure I had a safe start in life!

My relationship with Dr. Angstadt, his wife, Helen, and their 3 children goes way back for me. I have so many incredibly fond and funny memories of times our families spent together while we were growing up. One just never knew what would happen when we were all together! He was like a second father to me and his children were like siblings. He had a personality as big as any can get and he will never be forgotten. He made a lasting impression on my life that I can say will be with me always. I am so sorry for his family's loss. We will all miss him terribly. Karen Greul

Doc was our next door neighbor for over 20 years. We loved him like our own grandfather and he was just a great guy! He was close to being deaf and almost blind, but he would be out in his yard always fixing something that went wrong, even though he couldn't see what he was doing. We sat in his garage many a day, having a cold beer and discussing life or went to the store together to get something he needed. There haven't been many people in my life like Doc and we will all miss him very much.
Goodbye Doc, we love and miss you!

Dr. Angstadt was one of a kind. My Great Aunt Sally worked for him in the late 70's. It seems like yesterday (1981) I was going to his office as he examined Teresa who was pregnant with our first child Annie. I can remember him saying “any day now” as we got closer to the birth of our daughter. Everyone who ever met him I am sure loved him. He will be truly missed by many. Thank you Dr. for the memories and everything you have done for so many people.
