Homer W. Branton, 92, of Cartersville, Georgia, passed away Friday, June 6, 2014. Mr. Branton was born July 3, 1921, in Bartow County, the son of the late John and Martha (Hazelwood) Branton. He was retired from Goodyear Mills, was a U.S. Army-Air Corp Veteran of World War II and a member of Rowland Springs Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Carrie Mae (Lewis) Branton, a brother, Roy Branton, sisters, Pauline Tidwell, Leola Newhouse, Louella Knight, Frances Ingram and Lillian Shinall. Surviving are his children, Larry and Loretta Branton, Ronnie and Lynn Branton of Cartersville, Connie and Jerry Godfrey...

Mr. Branton was born July 3, 1921, in Bartow County, the son of the late John and Martha (Hazelwood) Branton. He was retired from Goodyear Mills, was a U.S. Army-Air Corp Veteran of World War II and a member of Rowland Springs Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Carrie Mae (Lewis) Branton, a brother, Roy Branton, sisters, Pauline Tidwell, Leola Newhouse, Louella Knight, Frances Ingram and Lillian Shinall.
Surviving are his children, Larry and Loretta Branton, Ronnie and Lynn Branton of Cartersville, Connie and Jerry Godfrey of Dallas, Jerry and Carol Branton of Cartersville, eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, nieces and nephews and special care giver, Cathryn Knight.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 9, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Rowland Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Ringwalt officiating.
Burial will follow in Center Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 5:00-8:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers will be the McDonalds Breakfast Club.
Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive, Cartersville, Georgia is in charge of the arrangements.
