Mr. Howard Roberts, 77, died Thursday, November 24, 2016 at a local nursing home. A committal service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 in the Georgia Veterans Cemetery, Milledgeville, GA at 2 o'clock. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org .
Mr. Roberts was born in Soperton, Georgia, to the late Joseph Leonard and Lizzie Layton Wilcher Roberts Campbell and raised in Belle Glade, Florida. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Germany. Prior to and following his military service, he worked as an electrician, owning several businesses, including The Country Mart in Macon, Georgia. Howard attended Troy State University on a basketball scholarship and was a Star Athlete for the Belle Glade High School Golden Rams. He was preceded in death by five of his six siblings.
Surviving Mr. Roberts are his sons, Eric (Anita) Roberts, Jody (Kimberly) Roberts; mother of his children, Peggy Roberts; brother, J. F. (Betty) Wilcher; sister in law, Jackie Wilcher; numerous nieces and nephews.
