Howard Arbogast Obituary

Howard Lee Arbogast, age 87 of Rootstown, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2012, at Robinson Memorial Hospital.

He was born January 31, 1925, in Elkins, West Virginia, a son of the late James Lee and Rhoda Belle (Clifton) Arbogast. Howard retired from Goodyear on January 1, 1989. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the end of WWII. Howard was an avid card and chess player. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. Howard was dedicated to his family and always offered to help in any way that he could.

He is survived by his children: Glen (Betty) Arbogast of Edinburg, Charlotte Rogers of Randolph, Hazel Showalter of Diamond, Howard (Elaine) Arbogast of Salem; and Shirley Arbogast of Rootstown. Howard's memory will also be cherished by his 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, his sister Jewel Bright of Virginia Beach, VA, and his brother Eldridge Arbogast of Elkins, WV.

Howard was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years Letha (Nicholas) Arbogast on June 1, 1988. He was also preceded by his grandson Eric Showalter, brothers Brenton and Junior, and his sisters Helen, Mabel, Hazel, and Alice.

Cremation has taken place, and friends will be received Saturday, July 14, 2012, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the Ravenna First Church of the Nazarene. A Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow at 11:00 AM at the church with Pastor Tracy Ogden Johnson officiating. Interment will take place on a later date at Homeland Cemetery in Rootstown.
