Aunt Dorothy,
Uncle Dean was a great uncle with quite a sense of humor. When I was old enough to say these words, he taught me to say, "I am a ubiquitous and gregarious person and I demonstrate perspicacity in all that I do." :)
I remember your gardening and wonderful meals when we visited. You both were very kind.
I still have the letter that you both wrote to me when I was baptized. It is in a special scrapbook.
I appreciate the way you both included my input as a young child when Grandma was considering the move to Montgomery to retire.
I remember our visit when you lived in Houston, too. We went to the Astrodome and had a great lunch.
He also helped a great deal in my genealogy research providing a good deal of material describing family life.
Thank you for your loving cards, letters and hospitality.
Uncle Dean will be fondly remembered.
Love, Debbie

I will miss our conversations about economics and Texas A&M. You are the reason I chose to attend TAMU.

Dear Dorothy
Nancy and I were very saddened to hear of Dean's passing. Our sympathies and prayers are with you. Unfortunately we will not be able to attend the memorial service for Dean, as we will be on our way to Hawaii. But we will be thinking of you.
Dean and I were co-workers in the AUM Department of Economics for almost 20 years before he retired. As such we got to know each other quite well.
Dean was one of the most valuable members of the department and of the School of Business over that period of time. He was a dedicated teacher, hard worker and never shirked his duty in any capacity.
An example of this was his support when I suggested that the Center for Business publish a profession journal. There was not a lot of support for the idea, but Dean chipped right in and agreed to be the Co-editor of the Alabama Business and Economics Journal, which later became and remains today as The Southern Business and Economics Journal. He continued in this capacity for about 17 or 18 years until he retired. And by that time he was the primary editor. Although I was still a co-editor, Dean did the lion's share of the work.
Another example of his dedication is the effort he put forward in our AUM Annual Business and Economics Conference. He was always ready to discuss topic, suggest speakers and do anything to make the conferences a success. And very importantly, he was very instrumental in helping to get financial support for them. Without his support, the conferences would not have been the successes they were. The result was that the Economics
Department was able to finance travel funds for faculty to attend and present professional papers and to pay for submittal and publication fees to professional journals.
In addition, Dean was for many years the Director of Graduate Studies for the School of Business, and devoted many hours to the guidance of graduate students.
Dean was the most reliable faculty member I ever knew. He never missed a class unless away on professional business such a presenting a paper, and then always made sure his classes were covered by others.
The dedication shown by Dr. H. Dean Moberly is rare today, and was rare even them. He was truly a good man.
Again our sympathies to you. We know that you will miss Dean greatly. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you.

I am so sad to hear the news of Deans passing . Dean was a very dear friend and mentor to me . It was a pleasure building the custom farm toys he enjoyed collecting . He was a great man of faith and never forgot where he came from and who was in control of his life .

Donna and I are so very grateful we were able to visit Dean (and Dorothy) in his home before returning to Abilene last December. He was his cheerful self. We never dreamed it would be the last time we would see him this side of Jordan but we shall see him again. Thank you Father for people of Faith and Service like Dean Moberly.
