Howard James Kapaiwi Pacheco, age 88, of Kahalu'u, died peacefully on Saturday, December 3, 2016 in his home, surrounded by family. Howard was a World War II veteran, serving as an airplane sheet metal worker in Germany. He later founded his own sheet metal business, and retired from the federal government after 40 years of service.
Howard was an excellent golfer, golfing at Pali Golf Course in Kaneohe, and winning numerous tournaments. He also loved to walk to He'eia Kea Pier daily, and upkept his yard pristinely.
He is survived by wife, Sarah Houghtailing Pacheco; three children: Brian, Ralph, and Beverly; son-in-law, Allan Silva; sisters, Pearl Culbertson of Las Vegas and Leilani Campos of Maui. He also leaves behind five grandchildren: David, Charelle, Cameron, Cortney, and Keala, and three great-grandchildren: Kaluna, Meleana, and Lawai.
Graveside services will be held at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 11 am.
Arrangements under the direction of Borthwick Mortuary, Honolulu, Hawaii.
