Obituary

Hoye Dale Splawn passed away at home March 29, 2014. He was preceded in death by parents James Hoye and Eva Lou Splawn, and son Daniel Hoye Splawn. Dale is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Danna Cantrell Splawn, daughter Teresa, granddaughters Kristina Frank (Ray), and Alycia, great-grandchildren Psymon, Lily and Daniel Frank, sister Carole Hill (Junior) and brother Dalton (Joan). Dale graduated from Jones ValleyHigh School and was an alumnus of Howard College (now Samford University) where he served on the Board of Trustees. Dale is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Danna Cantrell Splawn, daughter Teresa, granddaughters Kristina Frank (Ray), and Alycia, great-grandchildren Psymon, Lily and Daniel Frank, sister Carole Hill (Junior) and brother Dalton (Joan).
Dale graduated from Jones ValleyHigh School and was an alumnus of Howard College (now Samford University) where he served on the Board of Trustees.
Dale was a devoted member of Green Valley Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and Royal Ambassadors leader. He co-founded the Bob Finley Character Awards honoring Hoover students and teachers with outstanding character.
Dale was a Partner at Mackle, Splawn, Tindall and MacDonald, a Birmingham CPA firm. He also served on the Hoover Park and Recreation Board and the Hoover Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) Program. He was past Treasurer, Birmingham Area Council, Boy Scouts of America and received the BSA's Silver Beaver Award for Distinguished Service to Youth. Dale was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Alabama Amateur Softball Association.
He always represented Christ every day in every way.
Visitation will be at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, AL from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, April 1 and from 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, April 2. The funeral will be held at 11 am, Thursday, April 3, at Green Valley Baptist Church.
