Hubert Depland, Jr. was born on April 8, 1949, to Hubert Depland, Sr. and Emma Rose Mathis Depland, of New Orleans, Louisiana. He departed this life on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at Vitas Hospice Care, in Katy, Texas. Hugh leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of nearly 40 years, Dianne Revels Depland. He was a dedicated and loving father to Brandy Depland Sims, of Falls Church, Virginia; Michael Depland, of Queens, New York; and Kurt Hill, of Houston, Texas. Hubert Depland, Jr. was born on April 8, 1949, to Hubert Depland, Sr. and Emma Rose Mathis Depland, of New Orleans, Louisiana. He departed this life on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at Vitas Hospice Care, in Katy, Texas. Hugh leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of nearly 40 years, Dianne Revels Depland. He was a dedicated and loving father to Brandy Depland Sims, of Falls Church, Virginia; Michael Depland, of Queens, New York; and Kurt Hill, of Houston, Texas. Hugh was the oldest of six surviving siblings: Driscilla Depland Broussard, Bridget Depland-Grant and Dwight Depland, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; John Daryl Depland, of Hammond, Louisiana; and Phyllis Depland, of Katy, Texas. Throughout his life, he touched the lives of and was a blessing to a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Depland was educated in New Orleans; was a graduate of Xavier University and received a Master of Arts degree from the University of Illinois, at Urbana-Champaign. He worked for many years as a Public Affairs and Community Relations official in the petroleum industry living in Houston, New Orleans, Chicago, Fairfax, Anchorage and Cleveland, before settling down in Katy, Texas. After his retirement, Hugh dedicated his life to his family and to his favorite hobby, playing golf.

Hugh passed on as a man of great strength and character. He is remembered dearly by those he encountered in his professional and private life.

Family and friends are invited to join us for visitation and religious services at Dignity Memorial-Katy Funeral Home, 23350 Kingsland Boulevard, Katy, Texas 77494, on Saturday, May 17, 2014, from 9:00AM until Noon. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations in Hugh's honor be made to the American Cancer Society at www.donate.cancer.org.
